DISCOVERY is a South-East (UK) based covers band, formed from experienced musicians who have come together through a mutual desire to entertain.
We specialise in providing entertainment for all kinds of functions from corporate events to wedding receptions, birthday parties, PTA events, social club entertainment evenings and so on. And you can be sure we will deliver, whatever the occasion because we enjoy performing as much as you will enjoy our performance.
We are a five piece, fronted by vocalist Lucy, plus strong backing vocals and harmonies and we are completely live no backing tracks here! Find out more about the band on our Meet The Band page!
Our set lists are made up from songs that come from all eras from the late 50s to the present day, all genres from R&B to Rock'n'Roll and everything in between. Great rockers, Motown mega-hits, Pop classics, and some big ballads thrown in for the occasional smooch. So something for everyone - and we will tailor our performance to suit your event.

Our aim is to make your event a success by providing entertainment that will fill the dance floor and get you singing along, as you rediscover some of your favourite songs - songs from all eras and popular genres including Rock, Pop, Blues, R&B, Motown, and even a hint of Jazz!
Our customers generally hire us because we'll provide something for everyone - great for all special occasions. We'll discuss your preferences with you and make our set fit the audience and mood of your event.

FAQ
ARE YOU INSURED?
We carry full public liability insurance, and our electrical equipment is PAT safety tested - many venues will require this nowadays.
HOW LONG WILL YOU PLAY FOR?
Typically we will provide up to 2.5 hours of live entertainment, designed to keep you dancing, split into 2 or 3 sets as per your requirements. We'll work with you or your venue provider to time our breaks to co-incide with food being served etc.
HOW LONG DO YOU NEED TO SET UP?
We will need approximately 1.5 hours from arrival to set up our equipment and sound check.
DO YOU NEED A STAGE?
A stage is nice if your venue has one, but this is absolutely not essential. All we need is a space around 12ft wide by 12ft deep or so as a minimum.
CAN YOU PLAY BACKGROUND MUSIC DURING BREAKS?
We can play background music through our PA system before and in-between sets. You can either leave this to us to choose, or you can provide your own MP3 player with your own choice of music. No problems either way.
WILL YOU PROVIDE DANCE-FLOOR LIGHTING?
Yes we will provide dance-floor lighting, so you will not need to hire this separately.
ARE YOU HAPPY TO LEARN A FIRST DANCE SONG FOR OUR WEDDING?
Yes, we're very happy to learn your choice of song for your ‘first dance’ as a married couple, provided you make your decision far enough in advance!
ARE TRAVEL EXPENSES EXTRA?
Travel expenses are usually included in our quotes unless you are asking us to travel to a distance that will require B&B - this is unlikely for venues in the South-East.
DO YOU HAVE ANY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS?
Well, somewhere to change would be nice, but the loos are probably fine! If it is possible to provide food & drink that's also great, but we can provide for ourselves if necessary.

Lucy - Vocals
Lucy spent her formative years training & performing in the theatre, with singing taking the priority. She made her band debut at the age of 15 years & knew she wanted to make singing her career. After training in acting & musical theatre for 3 years at Mountview Theatre School, she worked professionally for 5 years doing various musical shows. This included International & National Tours, in which she took leading roles & also Company Manager, in various residential contracts. Lucy also worked as a Redcoat for a Butlins Spring/Summer season, giving her an enormous amount of stage experience in various guises - and providing invaluable experience of how to work an audience! She took a planned career break from the theatre fitting in several other careers, most importantly - motherhood. Lucy now teaches young children singing, dancing & acting & loves the opportunity to pass on her enthusiasm & experience to the younger generation – all good practice for keeping the rest of the band in check!
Len - Drums & Backing Vocals
Len has been playing the drums since – well – a very long time… playing in bands at school, college and more recently through to successful long term tenures with Berkshire-based covers bands ‘Undercover’ and ‘Target’. In 2009 Len decided to start his own project, which has become DISCOVERY. Having conducted an extensive search for other like-minded, talented musicians who simply want to entertain and have fun at the same time – we have the line-up you see on this web-site! Along with Paul, Len provides a solid rhythm section for DISCOVERY, laying down the grooves that will make you want to stay on the dance floor all night. Len is also the main backing vocalist - his harmonies are the perfect complement to Lucy's lead vocals.
A few adjustments to the 2011 line up and now we have a brand new version of DISCOVERY for 2012 as seen on this website.
Silvano - Guitar & Backing Vocals
Where would any great rock band be without a fantabulous guitarist?! Silv ably fills those shoes for DISCOVERY. Silv describes himself as an all round music nut who loves nothing better than to play, jam and record with anyone who cares to play some tunes.
Outside of DISCOVERY he currently works with a Doors tribute act and is also often called upon to deputise for other bands where time permits.
He has supported acts such as The Enid, Siouxusie and the Banshees amongst others.
An experienced guitar teacher, Silv gets great satisfaction from encouraging young people to pick up the instrument, for whom he runs guitar workshops every Wednesday as well as private lessons.
As an active session player and recording artist with a diverse range of styles, Silv has worked with many high calibre local and national artists in recording studios and live gigs over a span of 30 years.
“So,” enquired Sergeant Rickenbacker, “tell me about this Paul... he looks like a salty individual.”
“Well,” replied Inspector Pedulla, “he has played around a bit....over 20 years in fact, we’ve had our eye on him for a while, he’s lurked around the Reading music scene for years.”
“You think he could have learned his fretboard by now then, eh?”
“True, but he blames it on extenuating circumstances - too many Pickled Onion Monster Munch as a child.”
“Sick Puppy, hhmmm?”
“Yeh, but kind of dashingly handsome in a way, don’t you think?”
“Yes, in a way......like looking in a fun fair mirror sort of way.”
“So, shall we call him and this errant band of miscreants in for questioning?”
“No not yet, go listen to some of their handiwork first, then we’ll have more to go on.”
“Ok, so what other evidence do we have?”
“We got a message, handwritten and scrawled on an old pizza box. It says:
‘One Bass is too many, and a thousand aren’t enough.’
“That’s sick!”
“Too right, but get this; he works as a postman in the day too!”
“Oh boy, this might be one of those cases best left unsolved!”
Rob - Keyboards & Backing Vocals
Without a doubt the richness of the DISCOVERY sounds comes from Rob’s multi-faceted keyboards.
Born in Oxford and inspired into music by his father and grandad, Rob has been playing keyboards since the age of 5 and is a very experienced and highly respected musician. He has toured with bands since the ‘80s, including Perfect Blonds who supported Q Tips (featuring Paul Young) and Talk Talk. Other projects that Rob has been involved with over the years include Burma, The Duvets, Silent Cry and Dangerous Age. He has also been spotted in a local pub jamming with Gary Moore and Eric Bell of Thin Lizzy. Often asked to play on other bands recordings, Rob has also featured on recordings by Iron Heart, Catscratch and Moonfish.
These days apart from DISCOVERY, Rob's other main project is a Pink Floyd Tribute band called ‘Run Like Hell’!
